Buddhist Youth Leadership Seminar (BYLS)

Mr.Sommai Kornsakoo, past president of WFBY, have initiated the Buddhist Youth Leadership Seminar, which was held from 1st to 7th November, B.E. 2542 at the Japanese Center, Thammasart University, Rangsit campus. Twelve nations comprising 72 participants were present. The participants were from Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, England and Belgium.
Main speakers are Ven. Nicholas Tanisaro, Mr. Manit Ratanasuwan, Dr. Viphandh Rueng Pithaya and others. The program was supported by the three Regional Centers in Thailand - Dhammakaya Foundation, Buddhist Youth Association under the patronage of His Majesty and the Foundation of Luangpoh Viriyang.
After seminar, participants have joined the Kathina Ceremony at Wat Phra Dhammakaya Temple. Of which Ven. Ching-Yao, President of CYBA has been invited to give a speech in front of approximately 200,000 marked of Buddhist congregation who joined the ceremony.

Participants
50 persons in total (approximate) two persons from each member regional center of WFBY
1st person is actively holding one of the following positions - President, Secretary General or Director within own organization
2nd person is selected as a potential future leader of own organization
Qualifications of participants
Above 25 years of age ; English proficiency
Dedicated to observe the Five precepts
Possess strong determination to become future Buddhist leaders
Actively engaged in Buddhist activities
Interested in the practice of meditation
Acquainted with Buddhist Teachings and Knowledge

Programme Description
Buddhist way of Leadership : to study the Buddhist scriptures and practicing the Five Precepts under the guidance of experienced teaching monks
Prototype of a good person in the society : to understand basic virtues such as honesty, patience, generosity, loving-kindness, compassion, diligence, contentment, the Noble Eightfold Path, the Four Noble truths, etc?
Meditation - its benefits and practices : to deeply appreciate the true significance and positive effects of meditation through own experience in meditation practices
Management skill (i.e. fund-raising, administration, personnel) : to learn practical ways of various successful stories through sharing from experts and in real cases
Human relationship : to develop good teamwork, worldly hospitality, true-hearted friendship, communications, etc.
